Parents ask · The method
Do Montessori schools give homework and grades?
Younger children have neither. In elementary, work carries over between days because projects run for weeks, and children are assessed by continuous observation rather than by periodic tests.
Families receive detailed reporting from teachers who watch their child work every day, which is a different instrument from a graded worksheet and generally a more informative one. The annual materials and testing fee for kindergarten and elementary at Mills is $450.
If you want to know exactly what reporting looks like at any school, ask to see an example — a real one, with the name removed.
