How much does Montessori preschool cost in the Bay Area?
At Mills Montessori in South San Francisco, tuition runs from $1,100 to $1,750 a month depending on the program, the number of days per week and the length of the day.
The range covers real differences: a three-day morning place in the toddler program is $1,100 a month, while five days of extended care from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm is $1,750. Annual tuition is based on a 180-day school year and may be paid in one payment for a discount — 5% before May 1st, 3% after — or in ten installments.
On top of tuition there is a one-time $200 enrollment fee for new students and an annual materials and testing fee of $300 for preschool or $450 for kindergarten and elementary. Enrichment classes and hot lunch are extra. Everything else is in the published Financial Agreement.
Most Bay Area Montessori schools do not publish tuition at all, which makes comparison hard. If a school will not tell you a price before a tour, ask why.
